At the beginning of 1990, following the burst of the economic bubble in Japan, many of the trade shows in Japan started to shrink or diminish. However, the exhibitions organised by Reed have continued to rapidly grow despite the economic downturn. The reason for this is that Reed Exhibitions Japan Ltd. has put its greatest efforts on creating business for the exhibitors and visitors. It is our belief that exhibitions will not sustain unless they create real benefits for its participants.
Even amid severe economic conditions when companies cut back on their spending on trade shows, the number of companies who consider their participation in Reed shows essential, has continued to rise. As shown in the graph, over the past 17 years the total number of exhibitors each year has jumped seven folds from 2,200 to 15,000. As a result, the total sales of our company have been expanding successfully.
